LYTHAM Chess Club won a second league trophy of the season with the third team lifting the Division C title.

They join the second team who have already won Division B.

The third team played well in their penultimate match at Cleveleys in winning by 3-.

Nick Ward, John Regan and late replacement Steve Willder all won, while David Dawber settled for a draw.

In the last match against Bispham firsts honours were even in a 2-all draw, but this was enough to give Lytham the league title.

David Dawber again drew, while David Newton scored a very important win and Pat Coleman snatched a draw from an apparently lost position.

Blaine McGrady won for Bispham against Nick Ward.

In the club championship, Peter Jowett is clear leader with four wins from four games.
