SCHOOLCHILDREN at Stanah Primary School, Thornton, have cause for a double celebration after picking up a handful of awards.
Members of the school's Science Club, for seven to nine-year-olds, scooped Bronze B awards in a national scheme and pupils are already looking to obtaining Silver awards next year.
Four pupils from the school have also been declared district champions after defeating St John's of Poulton in the Inter-schools library quiz.
As champions they won a £50 book voucher and a trophy and go on to compete against Ansdell Primary School, winners of a separate district.
Stanah's team, James Clemence, Katie Heaps, Lucy Robinson and Sarah Lloyd, had to read War Dogs and an information book on Arthurian legends to take part.
