BLACKPOOL Mechanics had to settle for runners-up spot in the U18 Floodlit League with an emphatic 4-0 victory over third-placed Accrington at Jepson Way.
Danny Cooke opened the scoring in the third minute when Adam Cairns' searching corner was beautifully flicked on by Howard Heap for Cooke to blast in from two yards.
Leading scorer Matthew Dwire made it two on 20 minutes when Cairns' through-ball found Gareth Edwards on the left, who drew the goalie before squaring for Dwire to blast home.
In the second half Dwire scored his second of the night when Cairns' through-ball again found Dwire, who beat the offside trap and rounded the keeper before drilling the ball in from close range.
Dwire then turned provider for Cairns who broke through the middle and showed the striker how to put the ball to an empty net!
Immaculate Chris Hankinson was man of the match for Mechanics.
