Rose Bridge 41 Haydock 14
HAYDOCK saved their worst performance of the season for one of their most important games against a Wigan side who dominated from start to finish.
Haydock were their own worst enemies by making too many mistakes and putting themselves under pressure.
It was all Bridge from the start and after constant pressure they scored to lead 6-0 after 12 minutes. Haydock scored on their first attack when Pearson made good ground, passed to winger Abbott who scored. Ireland kicked a good conversion to level the scores. But still the mistakes occurre and Bridge who went in for another two tries and conversions plus a drop goal before half-time.
Despite all the pressure the Haydock defence and cover tackling kept going. But Bridge went 27-6 in front with two goals and a try before Haydock scored their next try.
Anders who took the ball 20 yards inside his own half, raced around a couple of would-be tacklers and skated down the wing to touch down in the corner for a great 70 yard try. But soon after that Bridge hit back with a try and goal to make it 33-10 to Bridge.
Bloor, Dolan and O'Garra were trying hard and a great cover tackle by Hughes prevented another score by the Wiganers. Bridge scored another try to make it 37-10 but Haydock to their credit although things were not going for them never gave up and good runs by Reynolds and Bloor and some good passing got winger Tither in at the corner to make it 37-14 to Bridge. And Rose Bridge scored the last try just on full time. Best for Haydock were Dolan, Carroll and Reynolds.
