THE D H Griffiths Cup quarter-finals got under way on Saturday with one startling result.
Pilkington Reserves, having their best season for a long while, were humbled 2-1 at home by Division One side, Carborundum, Kevin Guy grabbing the Pilkington goal. Clock Face Miners Welfare (John and Mark Davock) were well and truly beaten 2-7 at home by Child Reserves.
In the Tom Worrall quarters, West Bank won a cracking game, to eliminate Division One championsSportsmans Athletic 3-2 Gary Robinson (2) and J J Groghan goals doing the trick.
This Sunday Toll Bar will oppose Oddfellows in the final of The Hatton Travel Cup at Prescot Cables (11am). It follows their 5-3 semi-final victory over last year's winners Ex Services (Rainhill).
