DISTRAUGHT relatives travelled from London to Fleetwood on Monday (April 19) to identify the body of a young woman six days after she was washed up on Rossall beach.
She was 24-year-old Jaswant Kaur, of Stratford, East London, who is believed to have spent holidays here as a child. Police had launched a nationwide inquiry to establish her identity after her body - fully-dressed in fashionable clothing - was found by a dog-walker on April 13. Miss Kaur, who was single and registered disabled, was finally named after her family - originally from Pakistan - reported her missing from her home where she lived alone. A post-mortem revealed she had died of drowning but police said there were no suspicious circumstances.
An inquest was opened by North Lancashire coroner George Howson on Tuesday and adjourned for further inquiries.
