A LIBRARY with a difference has opened in Tyldesley.
And children from Shakerley CE Primary School called on the help of their mystic mascot Schoolwatch Scholar to open it.
Shakerley PALS (Parents and Literacy Support) have launched their learning is fun educational toy library scheme.
Guests at the opening included parents, Wigan and Leigh College literacy course tutor Justine Silcocks and community PC Dermot Mitchell and PALS executive committee members Hayley James, Leeanne Pinder, Sharon Cunliffe, Anne Bukin and Alison Fearnley.
PALS' Sharon Cunliffe said: "It all started last August when a group of parents were taking a literacy course with their children.
"For the last four months we have been fund raising and been backed by Abex Ltd of Wigan. Somerfields in Tyldesley have been very generous with a voucher scheme and balloons for the launch and have an in-store display and are taking toy donations on our behalf.
"We would like to thank everyone who has donated or helped in anyway over the last few months with a special thank you to all the members of staff."
PALS (pictured) have received a £2,000 CVS grant and aims to loan toys on a weekly basis initially to pupils and eventually to a wider audience.
