STAFF and patients at the RLI were celebrating this week when a new hoist costing £5,075 was donated by the official Friends of the hospital.
The hoist went to the Rheumatolgoy and Rehabilitation ward and will enable the movement of immobile patients.
It is unique because it also helps the patient to stand up again following a prolonged period of immobility.
Consultant physician Dr Isabel Hugget said: "This hoist is of immense physical and psychological benefit to patients as it provides comfort and a feeling of security when they are attempting to stand."
