A LORRY driver died and two other people were injured following a traffic accident on the M62 near Rainhill.
The accident happened at about 10.20pm on Wednesday, April 14 on the Liverpool-bound carriageway when the lorry was in collision with a car, causing it to jack-knife. The driver, believed to be a South African, aged about 50, was trapped in his vehicle for 30 minutes until the emergency services cut him free. He suffered severe multiple injuries to his head, pelvis, one of his arms, both legs and chest and was taken to Whiston Hospital where he later died.
