A PRIVATE nursery school has been praised for promoting the personal and social development of the children in its care.
Education inspectors found that the relationships between the children and staff at Stepping Stones Nursery in Hoddlesden was warm and friendly with children giving affection and receiving it.
In the report, the facility which caters for youngsters from birth and five years, was said to have a strong commitment to promoting children's confidence and self esteem, with achievement recognised and praised.
The programme for language and literacy, mathematics and knowledge and understanding of the world were both found to be good during the observations of the Government watchdogs.
Other strengths were discovered in creative development. Pupils were said to have daily opportunities to experience a wide range of activities.
The only weaknesses pinpointed were connected with a lack of structure in the planning of physical development and a lack of resources for children to learn to be sensitive to other cultures and beliefs.
Owner Julie Pickup said: "We are absolutely delighted to get such a glowing report. It is very encouraging for staff that their hard work has been recognised in this way.
"We have already implemented the recommendations of the inspectors. On the issue of physical and development regular outings are organised to a playground. We are aware that our base is close to area with high ethnic population so other religious festivals will be celebrated."
