DARREN Barton shrugged off the painful effects of a boil on the backside to claim his first British 125cc Championship victory of the year.
The Hoddlesden-based rider took the chequered flag on his Honda after a thrilling 28-lap battle with Pete Jennings in front of 25,000 spectators at Oulton Park.
Burnley's Neil Hodgson, riding for the INS Ducati team, consolidated his fourth place in the British Superbike standings by finishing fourth and fifth at the same meeting.
Neil Simpson put up his most competitive showing in this year's British Rally Championship with 12th overall on the Pirelli International Rally.
Simpson, from Colne, also finished top diesel driver and seventh in the F2 class in his Volkswagen Golf TDi.
