TEACHERS with an eye to the future attended two NIE placement days to discover more about our newspaper's website and ways in which we can make internet links with schools as well as offering a website reviewing opportunity for pupils.
Primary and secondary teachers came in on separate days and their visits included tours of our advertising and editorial department.
A presentation by media development manager Jane Law demonstrated how information about every East Lancashire school is already given to the world through our interactive website and how a school's own pages can be linked to our This is Lancashire site.
Valerie Cowan, our web-surfing reporter shared tips on finding and reviewing sites and assistant editor Nick Nunn gave an insight into electronic news gathering.
The events, supporting the National Year of Reading, have been funded to schools by the Teacher Placement Service at East Lancs Education Business Partnerships and have generated so much interest that a third day has been organised to take place on April 28.
