CHATBURN are champions of the Second Division of the East Lancashire Football League after securing the title with a 1-1 draw at Whinney Hill in their final game of the season.

The village side have thus completed a remarkable turnaround from last season where they finished next to the bottom of Division Two with just three wins.

Meanwhile, Whinney Hill need to avoid defeat in their final game at home to Rock Rovers next Saturday to confirm finishing as runners-up, although their superior goal difference should see them finish above Rolls Royce whatever the outcome.

First Division title favourites Crosshills reached the final of the President's Cup with a comfortable 3-0 win over holders Oswaldtwistle.

However, they went down to a shock 4-2 defeat in the league at Stacksteads to leave them needing to win two of their last four matches to retain their title.
