EMPLOYERS in East Lancashire are being targeted in a drive to boost job opportunities for disabled people.
Firms are being urged to take a close look at their recruitment policy and the Employment Service wants more companies to use the 'Positive about Disabled People' symbol which many already use on application forms and job adverts.
"More and more companies are finding to makes good business sense to employ people with disabilities," said the North West's disability service manager Lindsey Harman.
"Their skills, training, experience and commitment are resources which employers cannot afford to overlook."
A week-long campaign to encourage firms to use the symbol is now under way.
"I'm confident employers in the region will want to give their support to a pro-active approach which seeks to boost recruitment from an often untapped pool of talent."
