PUPILS at a Rossendale primary school are real litter bug beaters!
The Year Three youngsters at St Veronica's, Helmshore, have formed an army of grimebusters to pick up litter from the area around the school.
The scheme is linked to a geography project on environmental change but it is expected to continue into the future.
Teacher Claire Eccles said: "The area will look much cleaner for the pupils and staff at the school and it will hopefully make the pupils more aware of the consequences of dropping litter."
The school has entered the Lancashire Evening Telegraph's Grimewatch awards.
If you do something to improve your local environment, you could enter too. For full details contact Grimewatch co-ordinator Lynn Schofield by telephone on 01254 678678 ext 244, by fax on 01254 680429, or by e-mail at grimewatch@aol.com
