I WOULD like to clarify the Green Party's position after Labour put out a leaflet in Castle Ward that voters could find very misleading.
The leaflet claims that "if Labour lose their majority in the May elections, other groups will tear up all Labour's proposals." They then list ten things which most people would find it very hard to disagree with.
The Green Party will certainly not oppose commonsense policies. We have been calling for many of these things for years.
Our only disagreement is that we would vote to transfer new resources from Salt Ayre to local community centres, such as the one we have been campaigning for on the Marsh.
What does concern us is annual budget increases like 28 per cent on mayoral expenses, 23 per cent on corporate expenses, and of course the decline in the council's savings from over seven million to less than three million in just two years following the Blobby affair.
