IN reply to your reader's experience at the hands of a cowboy tradesperson (Citizen, April 15), we would like to explain how readers can avoid this unscrupulous element.
The Fair Trades Advisory Bureau has a national helpline (on 07000-111-444).
Consumers can call from anywhere in the country for advice and information on fully vetted tradespeople.
Many of the tradespeople listed can offer insurance backed guarantees that will offer protection, should the trader cease to trade for any reason. We also offer a conciliation service, should problems arise. We trust your readers will find this information useful.
