CHORLEY'S chances of a relegation reprieve are in serious jeopardy.

Hucknall Town have launched an appeal through the local media in a bid to get their ground improvements completed.

And the indications are they'll make the UniBond League's May 31 deadline.

"As far as I can see I think the work will get done," said Richard Silverwood, sports editor of the Hucknall and Bulwell Dispatch.

"The club were only told as late as the middle of March that their ground wasn't good enough and they weren't very happy when the league said they doubted whether they'd get the work done in time.

"Now they're even more determind to prove them wrong and they've launched an appeal through the local media."

UniBond League officials told the club they needed to carry out over £40,000 of improvements if they wanted to get promoted to the Premier Division.

Mansfield Breweries have loaned them £20,000, to go with the £10,000 they already have, and the appeal is set to raise the rest.

Work has just started on a new stand and they hope to start on a new changing rooms complex on Sunday morning.

"I don't think the financial side of it's a worry. It's getting the work done before May 31," added Silverwood, who is also a former chairman of the club.
