BLACKPOOL Mechanics Youth soccer team lifted the Under 18 Lancashire Cup at the County Ground Leyland when they defeated newly-crowned Floodlit Champions Burscough 5-1 in a manner that was as compelling as it was comprehensive.
Scorers were Dwire, Cairns, Edwards and Price (2).
This is the end of the finest and most successful Under 18 side in the town's history as the players disperse to colleges and universities around the country.
They depart knowing they have had eight of the present team represent their County FC and amassed a Floodlit League Championship, a Floodlit Cup, two Blackpool Cups and a Lancashire Youth Cup, exacting a telling revenge on the only team to defeat them in two years, in their final game.
