SPEEDY Lee Phillips of Poulton has ridden into the England team for a home international.
Cycle speedway fanatic Lee, aged 29, of Carr Close, has been selected to ride for the five-strong England team against Scotland, Wales and Ireland on May 15 in Edinburgh.
A thrilled Lee, who rides for the country's top cycle speedway team Stoke said: "It's always been one of my racing ambitions to ride for my country.
"It's wholly an amateur sport and as there are no teams in this area I have to travel a long way to compete, but it's a sport I love."
Lee, a window cleaner who took up cycle speedway 15 years ago, will be cheered on by his wife and two children in Edinburgh.
He is seeking sponsorship to help him meet his travelling and equipment costs.
If anyone would like to help, call Lee on (0797) 938 6609.
