IT was a special thanks to pupils at Hodgson High School in Poulton when Nigel Hinton, author of the Buddy collection of children's books, visited.
His timely visit came on the eve of World Book Day (April 23) which was a part of the National Year of Reading.
Nigel got in contact with the Poulton school after publishers rejected his latest book, Out Of The Darkness, because they felt youngsters wouldn't understand its themes.
Senior teacher Bill Allison agreed to read the book to pupils who wrote letters to Puffin.
They reconsidered and the book is now due to be released in August.
"It was a wonderful day for everyone involved," said Bill.
And to show his appreciation, Nigel returned to the school to give the 30 pupils a signed copy of his book.
