THE winner of the last round of the national BTRDA Rally series, Carnforth's Ian Joel, will be contesting the next round this weekend, The Plains.
One of Ian's favourite events, the Chris Allen supported Escort Cosworth 4x4 goes well from the events base in Newtown, using over 40 miles of tracks in the local forests.
Last weekend Wayne Sisson won the family battle with father Clive, when they both contested the Pirelli Trophy Rally. Wayne, in his new Mitsubishi Evolution 4. Burton-in-Holme based Wayne not only beat dad, but also the rest of the field and took the title by a sizeable margin. Millhead's Steve Joel was also contesting the Trophy Rally which uses the Sunday mileage of the International. On one of his rare ventures into the forest, Joel and co-driver Glen Fothergill took the RSJ Escort Mk2 into 8th.
