LOCAL referee Steve Ganson has been appointed reserve official for the Silk Cut Challenge Cup Final between Leeds Rhinos and London Broncos on Saturday, May 1.
The 29-year-old, who lives within a drop-kick of Saints' ground, has been a Super League whistler for three seasons, and is president of the Lancashire Society and the St. Helens group.
Said Steve: "My appointment was a complete surprise and is a great honour, particularly because this will be my first official Wembley call-up, and the game itself is historic in that it will be last at the stadium before it is re-built."
