LANCASTER swimmers performed well against strong opposition from Preston and Chorley rivals on Friday.
Lancaster Swimming Club hosted the North Lancs League Gala at Salt Ayre.
New coach Peter Johnson was looking for better results from his team and he wasn't disappointed.
Lancaster swimmers came up with the goods coming a close second place with 100 points. Chorley won with 112 points and Preston scored 85 points.
Lancaster had some good strong swims winning 12 events out of 37 on the night with nine individual winners and three team relay wins. For the girls there were excellent swims in the 12 and unders with victories for Lucy Pinnington in the two length front crawl and Nicola Green in the two lengths breast stroke, while Katie Arkwright followed by taking first place in the 14 and unders two length front crawl.
The boys were more dominant with double wins for Andrew Palmer in the 14 and under two length breaststroke and butterfly and two victories for Neil Bowers in the open age group at two length backstroke and butterfly. Other wins for the boys came from Adam Laybourne in the 14 and under two length backstroke and for Steve French who had a brilliant swim in the open age group two length breaststroke.
