MORECAMBE were beaten by 10 runs in a low scoring game at Fox Lane.
Phil Thornton, Morecambe's captain, won the toss and put Leyland in to bat.

Opening pace bowler Peter Stephens bowled half the overs and took 6 for 38, while John Eccles resisted him with 3 for 10.
In reply, Morecambe started disastrously and were seven for five, with their new professional Ashwell Prince dismissed without opening his account.

Phil Thornton tried to blast his way to victory but was caught by Leyland captain Mark Pellett off Leyland professional Neil Rimmer for 37, leaving his wide 63 for 8. His innings included 5 fours, and 2 sixes.
After Thornton's dismissal Morecambe's last two wickets only added eleven runs.
