THERE'S a feast of international football on your doorstep this weekend with some of the future stars of Europe in town.
The inaugural Bury Times Visitors European Cup, in conjunction with Bury Rangers, takes place tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday at Clarence Park.
Dutch clubs Ommoord and Van Lille will join Blackburn Rovers and Stockport County to take on Bury Rangers under 9s and 10s in a Bank Holiday festival of football.
Seven-a-side teams will be split into two groups with the table-toppers playing off on the final afternoon.
Scores of youngsters will take to the field over the weekend and spectators can see for themselves - free of charge - what outstanding junior talent Europe has to offer.
Chairman Paul Mainwaring said: "It is a credit to Bury to be staging a competition of this nature and to be able to show the region this standard of football.
"These young players from Holland are way above average and I think the likes of Blackburn and Stockport will be in for a surprise."
Rangers were asked to stage the event after their successful trip to the HOV Tournament in Holland last year where they held their own against sides from professional clubs including Ajax and PSV Eindhoven.
The action runs from 10am-4pm on Saturday and 10am-5pm on Sunday.
Rangers aim to make it a fun weekend for spectators with refreshment facilities available and bouncy castles.
