WOULD-BE women accountants are now outnumbering their male counterparts in Lancashire.
Latest figures show that the county is one of only two in the country where there are more women than men training to be chartered accountants.
There are currently 21 women and 19 men studying for the qualification, and the North West Society of Chartered Accountants said it was encouraging that the student intake now reflected the local community.
"It's nothing to do with political correctness but it is only right that we should match the great advances being made by women in business and industry," said Norman Bolton, president of the NWSCA.
