A YOUNG woman was sexually assaulted after leaving a nightclub in St Helens town centre in the early hours of Saturday, April 24.
The 20-year-old victim left the Plaza club in Duke Street at about 2am after a night out with friends. Then, sometime between 2 and 3am, she was accosted by a man who dragged her into an alleyway off Crab Street, at the back of the club, where he pushed her face against the wall and subjected her to a serious sexual assault.
The man then ran off leaving the woman extremely traumatised and unable to offer much of a description other than that her attacker was white, in his 20s, about 5ft 7ins tall with a medium build and short, black hair.
Police are appealing for any witnesses who were in the area at the time to contact DC Dave Essery at St Helens CID on 0151 777 6063 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
