RUGBY LEAGUE: Lancashire Lynx will be looking for an upturn in fortunes on Bank Holiday Monday when Workington Town are the visitors to Victory Park.
The recent bad run had seen Lynx drop to two places from the bottom in the Northern Ford Premiership.
Steve Hampson was hit with more injury problems before last week's 40-14 defeat at Keighley, with Paul Norton, Kyle White, Jason O'Loughlin and Darren Abram all missing the game to join the already lengthy injury list.
One bright note was the return of scrum half Neil Flanagan after recovering from a dislocated shoulder and Tommy Hodgkinson who has recovered from an elbow injury.
Making his debut for Lynx was ex-Salford stand off Neil Alexandra who looked like he could be a useful acquisition for the Lynx.
Abram should be fit to return whilst Norton faces a fitness test.
Last season Workington had a sorry time in the old Second Division, but the appointment of ex-Wigan and Great Britain prop forward Andy Platt as player-coach has turned round the fortunes of the club.
They currently stand just below half way in the league with four wins and a draw so far including a win over championship chasing Widnes at Derwent Park.
Platt has brought in experienced players like Paul Forber from Salford and Simon Knox from Bradford Bulls, although Forber will miss the game as he is halfway through a five-match ban. Also missing will be the influential Welsh international Barrie Williams through injury.
Lynx will also have to watch the half back pairing of Carl Roden and Graeme Close both of whom will cause problems in attack.
Lynx will select from: Murray, Rushton, Abram, Danny Jones, Parsley, Alexandra, Flanagan, Gildart, Bennett, Prest, Geritas, David Smith, Hodgkinson, Solomon, Simon Smith, Norton, James, Walsh, Welsh. (3pm start)
