A BURNLEY consultant who was at the forefront of the development of family planning services in the area has retired.
Jim Ogden has stepped down after 25 years as consultant obstetrician/gynaecologist at Burnley General Hospital.
Manchester-born Mr Ogden was trained in Manchester and was a doctor in the Manchester, Stockport and Salford areas before coming to Burnley in 1974.
Burnley Health Care Trust chief executive David Chew, who presented him with retirement gifts on behalf of the trust and colleagues, said Mr Ogden had always maintained a very high standard of care for patients.
Mr Ogden is well known in musical and operatic circles in Burnley.
