A MAN was left fighting for his life after his throat was slashed with a beer glass.
Ray Marsden, 30, of Rothesay Road, Shadsworth, Blackburn, lost four pints of blood in the incident.
Police inspector Stephen Haworth said several people had been drinking in the front garden of a house in Fishmoor Drive, Blackburn.
Mr Haworth said: "Ray Marsden was with a group of people, all of whom had had a considerable amount to drink. There had been a few minor skirmishes during the day.
"He was struck twice in the throat with a beer glass, which broke on first impact. He was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary and was critical for a long time."
Mr Marsden was described as comfortable by medical staff today.
A 43-year-old unemployed local man has been charged with wounding and was due to appear at Blackburn magistrates court today.
A 50-year-old unemployed local man, who suffered a minor head injury and was treated at Blackburn Royal Infirmary, has been charged with affray and bailed to appear before the magistrates on Wednesday.
