I WAS surprised to read (LET, April 19) of the hesitancy of our planning officers regarding the re-establishment of a petrol station on Preston New Road, Blackburn.
What possible impact can this have on New Bank Road? Is it just coincidence that when the petrol station that used to be in Preston New Road, was a thriving business New Bank Road was also a thriving shopping centre?
Now the petrol station has gone and New Bank Road is but a shadow of its former self. I used that filling station for over 40 years and cannot see that it ever harmed any other business.
