I WONDER if John Thomas, chief executive of Blackburn hospitals, sleeps peacefully at night.
I have just spent three weeks receiving the sort of dedicated nursing and general care that anyone could wish for or could possibly have and was shocked to learn that the nursing staff have to pay a parking fee daily to go to work.
One staff nurse told me she pays £9 a week for three days a week and some full-time staff pay more.
How can Mr Thomas justify this, with the poor pay the nurses work for? No wonder they can't recruit young people into the NHS.
Why can't they provide them with a car sticker and if they have to charge at all, £1 a week would be ample.
W GREGORY (Mrs), Roe Lee Park, Blackburn.
