THE article concerning the power failure at Buxton's bakery and coffee shop (LET, April 20) referred to it as 'a Blackburn bakery'.

Later in the article, in what must have been a reluctantly-given crumb of recognition, it was restored to its true location: Bridge Street, Darwen.

If anyone considers this to be mere trivia, then think again.

It is part of a creeping and cunning plot which is intended to filch our identity from us.

I have good reason to believe that some journalists are "moles" who have been planted in our midst by those who not only wish to see the dissolution of Darwen but also the extinction of England.

I refer to the Brussels Mob. They have already issued a map upon which the name England does not appear. We have been relegated to the provinces. So, what is required from the Evening Telegraph is a literal, unequivocal, unambiguous assurance that it will purge from its ranks any writer who will not swear allegiance to Queen, country and Darwen.

RAYMOND NICHOLSON, View Road, Darwen.
