WORK has started on a long-awaited scheme to give Darwen Library Theatre a new look.
The old entrance canopy at the theatre is currently being demolished as part of the first phase of the scheme.
When the theatre re-opens its doors, it will be able to accommodate 214 people and local people will be invited to give it a new name through a competition organised by Blackburn with Darwen Council.
In addition to the new seating, the redesigned entrance will have full access for the disabled via automatic doors and there will be a split level box office desk inside the entrance.
