HIGH school students hoping for top "marks" in a Young Enterprise scheme have forged close links with a High Street giant to get a taste of life in the workplace.
Pupils from Primet High, Colne, have teamed up with Marks & Spencer to receive training as part of Project Business UK, a scheme which encourages partnerships between education and business to teach teenagers about skills they will need in adult life. A group of Year 10 students visited the M&S store, Burnley.
The programme consists of nine hour-long weekly sessions presented by a representative from the business community supported by a teacher. As well as Primet, Fisher-More, Park, Edge End and West Craven high schools have taken part in the project backed by firms such as Rolls Royce, Silentnight, Smith & Nephew and Fort Vale Engineering.
The scheme is part funded by Pendle Partnership, the consortium of private, public and voluntary groups, through Single Regeneration Budget (SRB) cash and administered by Pendle Enterprise Trust.
