Cheadle Town 2 Clitheroe 0
CLITHEROE'S dismal league form continued after a Steve Denny double consigned the Blues to another disappointing defeat.
Once again Steve Parry's men enjoyed plenty of possession but lacked punch up front before they shot themselves in the foot by conceding a sloppy second goal.
On a bonehard pitch chances were always going to be at a premium but it was the home side who carried more threat in the first half.
Denny was foiled by a smart save when left one-on-one and Ian Humphreys put a free header just wide.
But they broke the deadlock on 61 minutes when a blockbuster from Humphries came back off the underside of the bar and Denny pounced to stab the ball home.
Eleven minutes later it was 2-0 when the Clitheroe keeper scuffed his clearance and, from the resulting cross, Denny fired home his second of the evening into an empty net.
