BRITISH Aerospace at Warton recently had a parents' day with a difference.
The tables were turned and more than 60 employees' children were invited to the site to see what their parents' jobs involved.
BAe Warton's general manager, Jim O'Shaughnessy, introduced the children to the site, before they were shown a series of videos, detailing facts such as the length of the runway and which aircraft are built at the site.
A tour followed, including a look at the two development Eurofighter aircraft and the Tornado mid-life update programme.
Parents then took over and took their children to their place of work for the afternoon.
And for Jennifer Pickup that meant a noisy time on the aircraft apron where her dad, Dave, is part of the ground crew for corporate travel aircraft.
Jennifer said: "The whole day was absolutely brilliant. The best bit was meeting the aircraft as they came in to land, although they were very loud and quite frightening at first."
Joe Roberts, education associate, said: "Through chatting to the youngsters during the day, we realised that there is tremendous pride in the fact their parents work for British Aerospace and in a lot of cases BAe is their first career choice."
Children of employees at Asda's Fulwood store also enjoyed a day in the life of their parents when they joined them at work.
And at Bamber Bridge Jobcentre, in Station Road, youngsters accompanied their mums and dads to work to see exactly what goes on while they're at school.
