XANADU hopes have been given another jolt after planners deferred a decision on plans about Kenyon Station.
The proposed station - which Xanadu developers admit is a vital ingredient in their Leigh leisure complex plans - lies within Warrington boundaries.
And Warrington planners want more consultations about the Xanadu developers' Manchester-Liverpool rail link proposals.
For the second time they have deferred their station plan verdict after locals, Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council and Culcheth and Glazebury Action Group voiced concerns.
Cllr Terry O'Neill, chairman of Warrington Council's planning committee, told The Journal: "This is a quite a strategic application.
"There needs to be a more in depth survey - this would also probably be in the best interest of the applicants. The committee decided it would be in the best interests of everyone to defer it to give the applicants more time for more detailed consultation.
"It is up to the applicants to get their act together."
Mr O'Neill said the proposals departed from the Warrington development plan and was in Green Belt land and even if the Council favoured approval of a station at Kenyon it would have to be referred to the Secretary of State.
That would mean either giving it the go-ahead, refusing the application, or, more likely, calling for a public inquiry.
