I READ with glee your story about Parking Meters For Town Centre, Citizen April 29.
Putting a fee on the privilege of parking in Winckley Square is sure to stop a lot people using it, especially those who treat it as a free car park.
They plonk their cars there in the morning, and then send their juniors out, hour after hour to move the thing.
At last I'll be able to get on with my work without having the hourly hassle of parking duties, one eye on the clock, the other scouting for traffic wardens.
You may laugh, but the lot of an office junior is not a happy one.
And the present parking system in the square is open to abuse, just like we minions.
The question does remain however as to where the big boss will park from now on.
Will I swop my hourly jaunt round the square, for a bus out to the park and ride every time he has a meeting?
Or worst still, will I be expected to take up sprinting as I scour the back streets of the suburbs for a space?
Parking is a problem in Preston, but it's only a problem for those like me, on low wages.
You can park where you want if the price is right.
