MORECAMBE manager Jim Harvey argued that the investment in the Christie Park ground could be holding back the development of his team this week.
In a guarded statement he said: "If you look at Chelsea back in the 1970s and Wolves at the beginning of this decade they invested heavily in the ground and then the performance of the team began to suffer. That could be part of the story of this season for us."
Harvey still hasn't signed a new contract with the club but you can tell he is still committed to his players. He argued: "If you look at the number of injuries and bad refereeing decisions and where we were at one stage a lesser team would have been relegated. We won five out of the last eight, drew two and at Southport we were cruising until the ref decided to send off two of our players.
"I'm also very pleased with our young players coming through from the academy. I had a 16-year-old on there on Saturday in John Hardicker who is just one outstanding prospect."
