MORECAMBE have lined up a high profile kit and sponsorship deal with sportswear giants Umbro for next season.
Umbro, producers of the England and Manchester United kits among others, will provide home and away strips for Morecambe.
Club officials were due to meet with Umbro bosses this week to finalise the details of the deal, including exactly which strip Morecambe will be getting.
As part of the deal Umbro will also be sponsoring the Christie Avenue stand behind the goal, which will be renamed the Umbro stand. The stand will be repainted with the Umbro diamond logo displayed along the front edge of the roof and along the back wall to further improve the look Christie Park ground. The exciting deal was announced by Morecambe chairman Rod Taylor at the club's end of season presentation evening on Saturday.
Speaking this week Mr Taylor commented "This is more great news for the club. We are always looking to take the club forward and strengthen our position. Umbro are the best in the business and it is fantastic for Morecambe to be associated with them."
The chairman also revealed that negotiations are continuing over a two year shirt sponsorship deal. If the deal is clinched the annual Gala draw-the giant raffle which has produced Morecambe's main shirt sponsor for the last five seasons would still be held, but with a different sponsorship prize.
