THE domestic honey bee population in the UK has been seriuosly reduced recently due to the varroa mite, but some wild colonies of bees continue to exist in infested areas.
This may be due to some inbuilt tolerance of the bee, some peculiarity of the environment, or a combination of both.
I have undertaken a private survey requesting from as many sources as possible information of known wild colonies of bees and the type of habitat they occupy.
I would be pleased if any Citizen readers could help me in this quest.
All information will be treated in confidence and as details accumulate I will let participants know.
