IT is interesting to read the comments of Councillor Horrocks and Hilton Dawson MP regarding the proposed new development on the Teanlowe car park in Poulton centre.
While both gentlemen think that a supermarket would be advantageous to Poulton, neither care to mention the fact that the car park would be situated on top of the store.
This is a bigger concern than any supermarket - which may or may not be needed.
We are told that such a development would bring more shoppers to Poulton, but nobody has said where these people are to park their cars.
The Council has known for many years there is no more land around or in Poulton for car parking.
So the only way is up.
Once you have a first level car park, it is quite easy and inexpensive to add a second, third and fourth floor.
We have now created a multi-storey car park right in the centre of our beautiful town.
The truth is that this is the start of asset-stripping with no care or consideration for the feelings of Poulton residents.
