THE countdown to carnival has begun, with just 30 days left before Radcliffe's 34th event.
Organisers hope to make up for last year when public apathy and bad weather conspired to make it the worst carnival in memory.
Carnival committee chairman Mr Ray Vevers said: "We're crossing our fingers for good weather on June 5 as the rain does put people off."
Early signs are encouraging for a good turnout for the parade of floats as many groups and organisations have already expressed an interest in taking part.
As usual the carnival will be centred on Red Bank Field.
Throughout the day there will be a car boot sale, stalls and Silcock's fun fair, which will be open until 10pm.
Anyone wishing to enter or to have a stall can Mr Ray Vevers on 797 4475.
