THE award-winning St Helens Youth Brass Band are hoping to hit all the right notes when they perform the world premiere of a brand new piece of music, written and created by themselves.
The band commissioned composer, Howard Snell to help them create 'Excelsior!' which is dedicated to their success and the memory of Sir Thomas Beecham.
Recent winners of the National Youth Brass Band Championships of Great Britain, the St Helens band have written the work to reflect the town's glassmaking heritage and will be performing it at St Helens Theatre Royal this Saturday, May 8. Tickets are on sale from the Theatre Royal box office.
