AN elderly woman was kicked by a vicious robber as she tried to stop him burgling her home.
The incident happened between 11 and 11.20pm on Sunday, when the robber climbed through a ground-floor window to get into the house in Haydock Lane, Haydock.
However, the plucky 83-year-old owner disturbed him in his tracks and grabbed hold of his leg when he tried to escape. The intruded then kicked her in the chest and ran off with an 18-carat gold engagement ring and a nine-carat gold shamrock-design dress ring.
The man was white, about 5ft 5ins tall and stocky and wearing dark-coloured trousers and a light top.
