CHILDREN will be buzzing with excitement when they see a sculpture unveiled to the public, which they helped create.
The burnished steel beehive and bees will be placed on the Haslingden Road roundabout in the Shadsworth area of Blackburn.
Youngsters from Queen's Park High School and Crosshill Special School helped artist Malcolm Robertson in its creation, based on the bees which appear in the Blackburn with Darwen Borough crest.
The work was paid for out of the council's single regeneration budget and the European Regional Development Fund.
Coun Andy Kay, chairman of the council's regeneration committee said: "This sculpture is part of our ongoing commitment to make public art as available to as many people as possible and demonstrates a link between the regeneration of the borough and the many educational activities that have been taking place since we became a unitary authority.
The new sculpture will be unveiled at noon on Thursday.
