THE heartbroken family of a businessman who died suddenly during a holiday in Lanzarote today spoke of their sadness.
Stephen Foster, 53, was just four days into the sunshine break with his wife Geraldine, daughter Lisa, son Sean, his partner Sonia and Sonia's two children Marley and Bethan, when he started feeling ill on April 25.
He was taken to hospital but died from a suspected heart attack the same day.
"It all happened so suddenly we still can't take it all in." said Mrs Foster. "It was the first time the whole family had been on holiday together for 10 years. He loved Lanzarote and had been really looking forward to going."
Mr Foster was born in Darwen and trained to be a joiner after leaving school. He set up a portable toilet business in 1977 and built his family home in Tockholes, the same year.
He was a founder member of Tockholes Gala, an active member of Darwen Round Table for many years and a music fan. He also leaves a sister, Janet.
Mrs Foster added: "His family was everything to him. We have all been very lucky to have known him. The messages of condolence have been overwhelming. He always had a smile on his face and lived life to the full. He really did brighten up your day."
The funeral will take place on Monday, at St Stephen's Church, Tockholes, followed by burial in the church yard. Sean will now help his mother run the family business, Public Conveniences, of Feniscowles, Blackburn.
