A CONSERVATION group is hoping to plant thousands of trees, all grown from seeds collected in the Bowland area.

Chipping Wildlife and Conservation Society believe it is the perfect way to start the new millennium.

Members want to identify a selection of ancient trees in the area and collect seeds each autumn for careful processing and planting.

They want to hear from anyone who has an old tree so that they can plan a seed gathering programme between September and November.

The Society is interested in oak, ash, rowan, hawthorn, hazel, holly and birch.

Anyone with information about suitable seeds can ring Andrew Berry on 01995 61226 during the day or Mike Gravestock on 01995 61162.
